Hill Crest Gite is 10 miles south of the bustling market town of Vire, the capital of the beautiful Calvados region of Normandy. We’re an easy drive from the Euro Tunnel at Calais, and the Channel ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen.
If you’re looking for a base from which to explore the many attractions of Lower Normandy, then you won’t find a better location than Hill Crest. From here, you’re around an hour’s drive from the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Swiss Normandy, Mont Saint Michel and much more.
There’s plenty to see and do nearby too. Fishing, walking, sailing, cycling… with Lake Dathee and the magnificent Saint Sever forest both about 10 minutes away.

Many of our visitors choose to arrive at Caen. However, if you’re happy to take things at a leisurely pace and take in the sights on the way, you could come through Cherbourg and follow the scenic coast road, which will only add 15 minutes to your journey.
French roads are generally well signposted, well maintained and not that busy (outside of peak weekends and summer).
If you arrive by Le Shuttle at Calais, your route will take you over the magnificent Pont de Normandie.
