“We bought Hill Crest because we loved it from the very start, and over the years we have created the sort of unique and idyllic holiday haven that we and our family would want to come and stay at ourselves. Since opening, feedback from our visitors has been fantastic and our Visitor Book is there for all to see! We’re confident, therefore, that should you decide to come and stay with us, you too will have a wonderful time.
We realise there’s a bewildering selection of holiday properties to choose from in Normandy, so we’ve come up with our Top Ten Reasons for choosing Hill Crest that you may find useful when comparing us with other properties.”
Unbeatable Countryside Location
In a peaceful setting where you can relax and unwind, yet still be close to most of Normandy’s many attractions and within easy reach of pretty towns, villages with traditional markets, shops and restaurants. Nearest bakers 2 miles for your morning baguettes and good shops just 4 miles away.
Spacious, bright, well equipped and homely Farmhouse
Larger than average rooms and all set within 3 acres of beautiful, self-contained grounds with stunning views. As we are at the end of a quiet no through lane, it is completely safe and secure for your children and is the perfect setting to relax in during the day whilst watching the buzzards soaring across the landscape. At night, listen to the owls and nightjars whilst marvelling at the shooting stars and milkyway in the clear Normandy skies.
Exclusive Use of All The Facilities
No sharing with strangers!
Activities Galore on Site for all ages and interests including Free Pony Rides around the paddocks
We offer free use of bikes, kayaks, wind surfer and much more. You’ll never be bored! Hill Crest is an ideal place for everyone, from 0-99 years, families or couples alike. Whether you want an active holiday or a relaxing one we have it all, and being in Normandy you can of course enjoy the local produce including delicious cheeses and dairy, washed down with cider, pommeau and calvados.
Our Well-Equipped Play Room
In the Farmhouse and just off the kitchen so you can keep an eye on the children whilst you are cooking or chatting and sharing a bottle of wine at the dinner table.
We Are Very Baby and Toddler Friendly
We’ve stair gates, cots, high chair, plastic plates and bowls, cutlery, night lights, low level trundle bed plus a real bath to bathe the little ones in and much more! We know how limited space in your car can be, so we try to help by providing these things, and if you need anything else to make your stay easier then please let us know and we’ll try to get it for you. We also provide washing up liquid, washing powder, dishcloths, tea towels, bin bags and toilet rolls to get you started so that you don’t have to worry about packing these into the car either. Bedding and towels are all included free of charge.
We Aim to Please
We want you to relax and enjoy every minute of your holiday from the moment you arrive, so we also offer a few extra services to help, such as welcome essentials, a shopping service and babysitting. We can also prepare a home cooked meal for your first night, so that all you need to do when you arrive is unpack the car, then relax with a cool beer or glass of French wine whilst we serve your dinner.
On Our Door Step
Although we’re close to the main Normandy attractions, if you don’t fancy a long car journey, we are only a 10 minute drive from the safe, sandy beach at beautiful Lake Dathee for swimming, kayaking and sailing and St Sever Forest for biking, walking and woodland adventures. We are 15 minutes from the bustling town of Vire in one direction and the beautiful waterfalls walk at Mortain in the other. We also have our own on-site Splash Pool back at the Farmhouse and a ‘guarantee to catch’ trout lake a short walk away plus there are many walking and cycle tracks nearby.
Live The Good Life
There are always seasonal fresh vegetables and herbs to share and enjoy from our kitchen gardens and, if they are in the mood, fresh eggs to collect from our chickens. Molly and Valken, our two friendly ponies, love to be fussed especially if there’s a carrot involved, and not forgetting Fleur, our cat, and ‘Boo’ our fresh pea loving Labrador! – If you are old enough you may remember the song ‘Me and you and a dog named Boo’ – there’s a bottle of cider if you can name the band – No Googling though!
One of the reasons we chose Hill Crest ourselves was because of its easy access to/from all the channel ports – We’re just a 4 hour drive time from Calais and closer still to the other channel ports.
