“Superb Normandy Gite in Glorious Calvados Countryside near Vire”
Homely, light, spacious, with superb family facilities. Sleeps two to eight.
Located in wonderful Calvados countryside and orchards at the end of a quiet no-through-lane and just 10 minutes from a lovely lake-side Sandy Beach , our south-facing self catering Normandy Farmhouse gite has been renovated and equipped to the highest possible standard with wood burners, exposed beams, large, well-proportioned rooms, flexible accommodation plus everything you need for the perfect holiday including a well equipped indoor Children’s Play Room just off the kitchen- Pictured below
Outside is wonderful too – our Normandy Farmhouse Gite is surrounded by Three Acres of Grounds with loads of on-site activities and things to for children and adults alike. There’s own Small Plunge Pool, Well-Equipped Play Areas with Trampoline, Quality Climbing Frame, Activity Paddock, Garden Games Tables, Supervised Archery and Airgun Shooting, Chairs, Sun Loungers, BBQ and Lots More. Free pony rides on our gentle and very friendly ponies around the paddocks are available and for experienced riders, if time/conditions allow, the possibility of a supervised hack.
Although we are slightly biased, we are confident that Hill Crest Farmhouse Gite is one of the best Normandy gites to rent available – do please take a look at our Reviews Page and click the link on it to see our 5 Star Trip Advisor reviews.

Come and enjoy exclusive use of our self catering Normandy Farm House which sits in three acres of beautiful, safe grounds at the end of a private no through lane with panoramic views across the valley and stunning Normandy countryside. It’s probably one of the best Normandy Gites to rent that you will find!
A short ten minute car ride from the Farmhouse takes you to beautiful Lake Dathee with its safe sandy beach where you can swim, kayak, windsurf, fish and cycle – we have kayaks and windsurfer that you are welcome to borrow plus lifejackets of course – bring a roofrack if you can.
There are also some great footpaths and cycle trails literally on our door step and we have a good selection of bikes that you are welcome to borrow plus of course, there’s the wonderful, ‘guarantee to catch‘ trout fishery just 750m down the lane which is open to all ages and abilities.
The magnificent St Sever Forest is about ten minutes drive from us and boasts miles and miles of superb walking trails and bike tracks, a trout fishing lake, ancient castle ruins and a superb new tree top adventure trail – like Go Ape but better in my opinion.
Half an hour from us is the Gorge de Souleuvre, which without doubt is the most popular days out for our visitors where you can walk out above the tree tops on the old viaduct and watch the bungee jumpers or even have a go yourself and then walk down into the valley below and enjoy the fantastic luge rides, cafe, another tree top adventure park and watch the jumpers from below. It’s free to visit and watch – you only pay for the activities.
We’re less than an hour away from some lovely sandy seaside beaches, and most of the land mark Normandy tourist attractions including Mont Saint Michel, The Normandy Landing Beaches, Swiss Normandy and Bayeux Cathedral/Tapestry to name but a few. Nearer to home and less than a half hour away are zoos, family adventure parks, museums, great places to eat and drink and some lovely villages with great markets. The buzzy and friendly market town of Vire with its great shops, museums and Aqua Park is just ten minutes away and is well worth a visit. The Friday morning market has been a firm favourite with our visitors this year. Our superb location, beautiful farm house and superb facilities make it one of the best Normandy Gites to rent that you will find.
Our lovely Normandy gite is is an easy drive from the Normandy ferry ports of St Malo and Cherbourg, and just a four-hour drive from the Channel Tunnel at Calais. Without exception, we have had some wonderful people come and stay with us in the Farmhouse and hope you will visit us too. Best of all for us has been the lovely comments all our visitors have left in our visitor book, these have made all our efforts and hard work worthwhile and we hopefully will give you the confidence to come and stay with us too.
Here’s a small selection of comments all of which are ‘real’ and can be seen in our visitor book when you visit …
